Dictionary of Mormonese

Sabbath

In Mormonism, the Sabbath is observed on Sunday. Members are encouraged to attend sacrament meeting, refrain from work, avoid shopping or recreational activities, and focus on family and spiritual matters. Keeping the Sabbath day holy is considered a sign of obedience and worthiness, often connected to being worthy to enter the temple.
