In Mormonism, being temple worthy means meeting the standards required to enter an LDS temple. Members are interviewed by local leaders, who determine whether they qualify for a temple recommend—a card granting access to temple ordinances (Gospel Topics: “Temple Recommend”).
During the interview, members are asked about their beliefs and behavior, including tithing, the Word of Wisdom, chastity, and sustaining Church leaders. A recommend is valid for two years and must be renewed. Only those judged worthy may participate in temple ordinances such as endowments, sealings, and proxy work for the dead.
Biblical Christianity teaches that no one becomes worthy to approach God through obedience. Through Jesus’ perfect life and sacrifice, all who trust in him are fully accepted and welcomed by grace alone (Romans 3:21–24; Hebrews 10:19–22).
