In Mormonism, exaltation is the highest form of salvation, often equated with eternal life in the Celestial Kingdom. It means living forever in God’s presence, becoming like him, and enjoying eternal family relationships. Exaltation includes the possibility of continuing progression, glory, and even the creation of spirit children.
To receive exaltation, a person must have faith in Jesus Christ, receive all the required ordinances (including baptism, confirmation, endowment, and celestial marriage), and keep the covenants associated with those ordinances. Obedience and worthiness throughout life are considered essential. Exaltation is available only to those who remain faithful and endure to the end.
Biblical Christianity teaches that eternal life with God is a free gift received through faith in Jesus Christ alone, not a reward based on obedience or temple ordinances.
