Terrestrial Kingdom - Truth in Love Ministry

Terrestrial Kingdom

In Mormon belief, the Terrestrial Kingdom is the middle of three degrees of glory in the afterlife, above the Telestial Kingdom but below the Celestial Kingdom. It is described as a place of honor and peace for “honorable men of the earth” who were not valiant in their testimony of Jesus or who rejected the restored gospel in this life but accepted it in the spirit world (Doctrine and Covenants 76:71–80).

Those in the Terrestrial Kingdom will enjoy the presence of Jesus Christ but not of God the Father. They will receive glory likened to the brightness of the moon. Although it is a state of happiness, it is not the highest form of salvation. Exaltation—the opportunity to become like God and live in eternal family relationships—is reserved for those who reach the Celestial Kingdom.

Biblical Christianity teaches that there are only two eternal outcomes after death: eternal life with God through faith in Jesus Christ or eternal separation from him in judgment (John 3:16–18; Matthew 25:31–46). The Bible does not teach varying degrees of glory or progression between different heavenly realms.
