What are Mormon stake houses?

This is a common term for Mormon churches. Technically, it is the church that houses the office of the stake president.

Stake presidents preside over “stakes”, a grouping of 5 to 12 congregations or wards. The imagery is of Mormonism being a large tent with each of these “stakes” holding the tent down.

Stake houses or chapels are open to visitors. LDS temples aren’t.
