Conversation Notes

The entire content of the Bible can be rightly divided into two parts:

  1. commandments (Law)
  2. promises (Gospel)

The basic distinction is straightforward: The Law tells us what we ought to do; the Gospel tells us what God has done.

Mormonism teaches that God has given the law so that humans can prove their worthiness by following it. The message of the Bible is vastly different: God has given us the law so that we can see our sin and will turn to him for salvation.
