Speaking the Truth in Love to LDS: A Truth in Love Ministry Witnessing Seminar

This isn’t just a day of classroom training—it’s an opportunity to live out what you learn immediately.

Join us for a full day of equipping and encouragement as we explore how to lovingly and clearly share the gospel with members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). Our focus: how to speak the truth in love, especially in the unique context of the Grand Junction Mormon Temple Open House happening that same afternoon.

Led by Missionary Mark Parsons of Truth in Love Ministry, this event will give you a rich understanding of the LDS worldview, biblical clarity on the gospel, and practical tools to build bridges, not barriers, with real-time application during a live temple open house tour.

    SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

    9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Build Bridges, Not Barriers: Engaging LDS with the Gospel of Grace
A deep dive into the essentials of witnessing to Mormons using Truth in Love Ministry’s tested four-part approach:

    • Surveying the Scene | An overview of the LDS Plan of Salvation, exploring its three stages—premortal life, mortality, and post-mortal judgment—and contrasting it with the biblical gospel of grace.
    • Part 1: Identify the Divide | Understand the actual width of the theological divide between Mormonism and Christianity. Discover how LDS teachings diminish Christ and elevate human effort—and why that distinction matters.
    • Part 2: Recognize Barriers | Explore unavoidable and avoidable barriers to communication, from differing views of the cross to cultural misunderstandings. Learn how to share the gospel without unnecessary offense, while remaining faithful to the truth.
    • Part 3: Build on Bedrock | Ground your witness in the substitutionary work of Jesus. Learn how to confidently share your status in Christ and avoid the trap of trying to be merely a “coach” instead of a witness to your Substitute.
    • Part 4: Five Pillars for Bridge Building | Concrete, compassionate strategies to guide your conversations:
        • See Mormons as victims, not enemies
        • Treat them with genuine love and respect
        • Focus on stress points like worthiness, forgiveness, and eternal family pressure
        • Speak their language while witnessing your story and His story
        • Keep the conversation centered on Jesus, not debate

    12:00 PM – 12:30 PM
    Lunch provided
Enjoy a time of fellowship, reflection, and connection with other believers.

    12:30 PM – 2:30 PM
From Tabernacle to Temple: Seeing Jesus in the Old Testament
Many have found conversations centered around the Tabernacle/Temple and the Day of Atonement to be highly beneficial with Latter-day Saints. We’ll explore the beauty and depth of God’s presence in the Old Testament Tabernacle and Temple, revealing how every structure, sacrifice, and priestly act pointed forward to Christ.

You’ll come away equipped to use this imagery to explain:

    • The separation caused by sin
    • The necessity of substitution
    • The meaning of atonement
    • How Jesus is the final, perfect High Priest and Temple

Using the Mormon Temple Open House to Share Jesus (optional)
Learn how to lovingly engage with Mormons on temple grounds with grace and truth. This session prepares you for what you’ll experience and say during the open house.

      Topics Include:

      • The emotional significance of temples in LDS culture
      • Understanding temple rituals and goals, such as sealings, proxy work, and endowments
      • How to use the O.I.L.S. method:
        Observe – Invite – Listen – Share
      • Conversation starters and respectful transitions to the gospel
      • The power of simply asking good questions and telling your story

      2:30 PM – 3:00 PM (optional activity)

Temple Open House Tour & Witnessing Opportunity
