Translation - Truth in Love Ministry

Dictionary of Mormonese

Translation

Rarely used as it is commonly used by others; as a term to describe the process of rendering something from the original language into another language. Rather it is used to refer to:

  1. The transmission of the original text over the centuries,
  2. The interpretation of the text, and
  3. The revision of the text.

“By translation is meant a revision of the Bible by inspiration or revelation” (D&C Student Manual, p. 136).
