The LDS Church is guided today through revelation to chosen servants (prophets) either to validate the teachings of Mormonism or sometimes to change or add new teachings. Revelation is also given to any worthy person to fit a specific need or to strengthen faith. Mormons will know if they have received a revelation by their feelings and not necessarily a voice. The Holy Ghost may either “whisper” a spiritual prompting or provide a “burning in the bosom”. A non-LDS person will frequently be encouraged by Mormons to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it. Mormons believe that the Holy Ghost will provide a revelation to non-LDS to verify the truth of the Book of Mormon.
