Because of Christ’s Atonement, Mormonism teaches that all people will be saved from physical death and be resurrected. All people will stand before Heavenly Father and be judged according to their good works. Heavenly Father will assign an appropriate kingdom of glory to be their eternal dwelling place (Celestial, Terrestial or Telestial). “The glory you inherit will depend on the depth of your conversion, expressed by your obedience to the Lord’s commandments.” (True to the Faith, p. 92) The vast majority of people will inherit one of the three kingdoms of glory where they will reside permanently.
Celestial Kingdom: It is the highest kingdom of glory where Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ dwell. Only Mormons who have achieved a “lifetime of righteousness and constancy of purpose” will be assigned there.
Terrestrial Kingdom: Honorable people who were non-LDS or non-valiant Mormons will inherit this middle kingdom.
Telestial Kingdom: Those who lived immoral lives in the mortal world and did not repent while in spirit prison will inherit this lowest kingdom of glory.
Biblical Christianity teaches: There is only one heaven (1 Corinthians 15:40-41) where God dwells for eternity. Heaven is an eternal resting place reserved only for those people who are perfect and holy since God is perfect and holy. For people who have placed their trust in Christ’s completed work on the cross will be declared perfect and holy and, therefore, live eternally in heaven.
